Routine Sample Analysis

Using Advanced GPC/SEC
Houston MJ Associates maintains an advanced GPC/SEC facility with Triple Detection (refractive index, light scattering, and dilute solution viscometry) capabilities.  Advanced GPC/SEC can provide the following parameters for your molecule:

  • Concentration
  • Refractive Index increment (dn/dc)
  • Absolute molecular weight
  • Radius of gyration
  • Intrinsic viscosity
  • Hydrodynamic radius
  • Mark-Houwink constants

Using these parameters, further characteristics of your molecule can be revealed:

  • Structure and branching
  • Aggregation and cross-linking
  • Conformation and folding
  • Sample purity
  • Copolymer composition (with the addition of a UV detector)

We offer routine sample analysis for

  • Xylene solubles for polypropylene and ethylene-propylene copolymers
  • All common organic solvents GPC
  • All common aqueous solvents GPC
  • GPC of proteins

We also offer non-routine GPC sample analysis with method development and consultation services.
Using Dilute Solution Viscometry
Houston MJ Associates maintains Dilute Solution Viscometry capabilities.  Sample analysis by DSV can provide the following parameters for your molecule:

  • Relative viscosity
  • Intrinsic viscosity
  • Inherent viscosity
  • Specific viscosity
  • Absolute viscosity
  • Molecular weight

We offer routine sample analysis for Batch DSV measurements for all common synthetic polymers.  We also offer non-routine DSV sample analysis with method development and consultation services.
